胜过母亲的母牛
SECTION 57. Cows Superior to Mothers
你们不要再一味地杀害、宰割胜过大恩母亲的这些大恩母牛了，
You should stop blindly killing and slaughtering these kind cows, whose kindness is superior to that of our own kind mothers.
不可以宰家畜！不可以杀野兽！它们都是无辜的。
Farm animals should not be slaughtered! Wild beasts should not be killed! They are all innocent.
周围的野兽都是你们父母、亲属的转世，
Wild beasts living around us are all the reincarnation of our parents and relatives.
它们没有获得人身，因为舍不下我们才投生到这里来的。
Their proximity to us is due to their attachment to us — they lost the chance to be born as human beings so they were born as animals here because of us.
做到不宰杀、不打猎，是根本的根本。
Absolutely first and foremost, quit slaughtering and hunting!
我再三祈祷，也是为了你们好。你们别再宰杀、别再打猎了。
For your sake, I repeatedly pray to you to stop killing, to quit hunting.
如果是宰家畜、杀野兽的人，那坐在佛教徒的行列中不知还有没有什么意义。
I don’t know whether it is meaningful for a person who kills farm animals and hunts wild animals to sit in a Buddhist assembly.
拿色达来说，百姓以牧民为主，作为牧民，如果把那些动物都统统杀了，那靠什么来生活？
Take Sêrtar, for example, where most people live as nomads. As nomads, if you end the lives of all your animals, what are you going to live on?
能养活我们一辈子的，就是这些大恩家畜。
These farm animals feed us our entire lives.
当今时代有的人说，我把母牛全部杀掉以后，到某个地方去签合同。
Nowadays some people say that they kill all their cows and sign a contract to make a living.
但你可能签不到什么合同，到头来背上背着乞讨的口袋、手里拿着乞讨的书信，那时该是多艰难。
But you may not be able to sign such a contract and end up begging instead, with a begging bag on your back and a begging letter in your hand. Think how miserable it would be!
身上连十元钱都没有的人，怎么能签上合同呢？
How can a person carrying less than ten dollars sign a contract?
去年前年，我真的害怕，几乎每一两天就屠宰数百数千只众生，血流成河，
Last year and the year before, I was terrified to learn that hundreds and thousands of creatures were killed every couple of days, their shed blood running like rivers.
如今稍微好一点儿，可能因为肉价没有上涨等诸如此类的原因吧。
Today the situation seems slightly better, perhaps because the retail price of beef has not gone up or some such circumstance.
如果是真的，那太好了。
If this is the case, it is great.
